You are right that “business as usual is not acceptable” in the face of plummeting biodiversity. Sadly, business as usual is exactly what we see from most of corporate America in Congress on key issues like climate change. Trade associations like the US Chamber and National Association of Manufacturers have represented corporate America for years with relentless hostility to serious climate action. Indeed, the independent, nonpartisan group Influence Map has found that in recent years those two have been most hostile to climate action of any such groups. A very few companies are beginning to make climate action a priority, but most do nothing or less — a message that our Republican friends can readily sense as they evaluate action in Congress.
